Minutes of the 2008 Annual District Meeting

June 8, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 1:52 pm

Roll call ( see attached attendance sheet )

Thirty one in attendance.

Twenty seven voting members

4 non - voting members

Report of the Governor-

   - Excited to have more clubs in attendance than before. The district has close to 600 registered clubs with

      22,000 Athletes.

   - Michigan received the Pace Award and Programming Award. Gary Eisen from Tae Kwon Do was the

      Volunteer of the Year for Michigan.

   - Reported on AAU policies such as the Privacy Act, I Want to Play AAU and Find an Athlete.

Report of the Lieutenant Governor-

   - Reminder that the 2008 AAU Junior Olympic Games are being held in Detroit.

   - Need volunteers to help run it.

Report of the Treasurer-

   - Financial Report on file.

   - Motion to approve by Walter Hall, seconded by Jerome Collins. Approved

Report of the registrar-

   - Helpful if we keep our events updated on the internet.

   - As of next year, the district will be only on line registration otherwise will be forwarded to the National

      Office.

Report of the Secretary-

   - Minutes of the previous year 2007 on file

   - Motion to approve by Walter Hall, seconded by Sean Gomez. Approved.

Reports of the Sport Directors-

   - Reports are on file

Old Business-

   - None

New Business-

   - Sean Gomez from Detroit Sports formerly know as the Detroit Sports Commission. Sean spoke about

      the upcoming Junior Olympics and volunteers that are needed. Volunteers can go to the detroitsports.org

      to register.

   - Warren Wilson made a motion that Sport committees would receive their funds within 30 days of

      submitting request along with their financial report to treasurer, seconded by Sharon Schatz. Approved.

   - Terry Dolan made a motion that he have permission to write a proposal to be submitted to Laws & Legislation

      for the National Convention to adjust the find an athlete program to include find a club. Seconded by Warren

      Wilson. Approved.

   - Sharon Schatz brought up discussion regarding using a housing agent for tournaments.

Orders-

   - 2008 Board of Directors Convention attendees - Michigan District Executive Board members able to

      Attend, Michigan Sport Directors able to attend and third, Alternates will be accepted with approval from

      Their respective sport committee. This year is an election of the 2nd Vice President at National Convention.

   - Sport Directors - $1.00 for youth and adult registrations will be refunded to the respective sport once

      proper paperwork submitted to treasurer.

   - The 2009 Michigan Annual Meeting will be held Sunday June 14, 2009.
