meeting was called to order at 2:03 pm

of the Secretary –
- Minutes
of the previous year 2006 on file
- Motion
to approve by Walter Hall, seconded by Warren Wilson.
Approved.
Report
of the Treasurer –
- Financial
Report on file.
- Motion
to approve by Walter Hall, seconded by Darnell Hall.
Approved.
Moved
to move guest speaker John Roberts, Director of the MHSAA before the balance of
the reports.
Jack
Roberts – guest speaker
- Mr.
Roberts spoke about the sport season legation that has been going on.
The advantages and disadvantages of moving the seasons.
- Spoke
about schools needing to see the value of sponsors.
- Spoke
about creative ways to fund school programs.
- Must
maximize the sport participation.
- Stated
that
Michigan
will not give up on what they believe in.
- When
thing go wrong and we are forced to do this differently, we may discover
that we can work together.
Report
of the Lieutenant Governor –
- The
2008 AAU Junior Olympic Games will be held in
Detroit
.
- Volunteers
can go to the Detroit Sports Commission to sign up.
Report
of the Governor -
- Most
eye opening meeting we have had in a long time.
- It
has been another good year for Michigan AAU.
Michigan
is second in membership as of this date.
- Reminder
that we have the 2008 AAU Junior Olympic games.
Report
of the Registrar –
- Included
is a comparison sheet for the past three years in each sport.

- Shawn
Gomez from the
Detroit
Sports Commission
Shawn
spoke of the Celebration of Athletes which is tentatively scheduled for EMU.
- Karen
Hall is the 2006 Volunteer of the Year for
Michigan
- Sport
Directors were contacted for nominations for the
Michigan
“Leadership Award”. We
would like to congratulate Mike Smith and David LaGrande
of girls basketball and Joe Wilson and Penny
Roberts of wrestling.

Orders
–
- 2007
Board of Directors Convention
attendees - Michigan District Executive Board members able to
attend,
Michigan
Sport Directors able to attend and third, Alternates will be accepted with
approval from their respective sport committee.
- Sport
Directors - $1.00 for youth and adult registrations will be refunded to the
sport with responsibility of director attending Board of Directors
convention.
- The
2008 Michigan Annual Meeting will be held Sunday June 8, 2008
